Enfield Council will fund 15 businesses with up to 25 employees to achieve an internationally-recognised environmental accreditation
Small businesses in Enfield are being offered an opportunity to apply for an accreditation scheme aimed at supporting sustainable practices and growth.
The Green Business Accreditation Scheme enables businesses to understand their impact on the environment and demonstrates a commitment to minimise waste, decrease energy consumption, cut carbon emissions and more.
Enfield Council will fund 15 businesses with up to 25 employees to achieve this internationally-recognised environmental accreditation from Green Mark at no cost. Accredited businesses will be awarded a pack which will include badges and certificates to display on storefronts and websites.
The scheme is being funded through a carbon compensation fund.
Sabri Ozaydin, the council’s cabinet member for climate action and placemaking, said: “Each year, we strive to work towards the council’s pledge for sustainable growth and to achieve our target to be a carbon-neutral borough by 2040. In our ‘Climate Action Plan 2024’, our approach to meet this target was set through working with the people of Enfield, including the businesses in our borough.
“This is why we are very excited to announce the launch of the Green Business Accreditation Scheme. This allows small businesses in Enfield to decarbonise and go greener, which will contribute to reducing the borough’s overall emissions.
“I highly recommend all eligible businesses, to consider this opportunity to build on their sustainability efforts.”
