The fire near Oakwood Station is believed to have started accidentally when work was being done to the building’s roof

London Fire Brigade (LFB) has confirmed that no-one was hurt during the blaze at a Chinese restaurant in Oakwood yesterday (Wednesday 4th).
Oakwood Palace, which has been closed for several months, went up in flames at around 5pm while a team of roofers were carrying out renovation work.
The restaurant is part of a parade of shops next to Oakwood Station, but thanks to the quick response of the fire brigade the blaze did not spread further.
An LFB spokesperson said: “At 5.11pm yesterday London Fire Brigade control officers received the first of 25 calls to a fire on Bramley Road in Oakwood.
“Firefighters attended and safely extinguished a fire affecting the roof of a row of single-storey commercial premises.
“Three people evacuated from the scene before firefighters arrived and there were no reports of any injuries.
“Three fire engines from Southgate, Barnet and Edmonton fire stations attended the scene.”
Chris Louca, who owns The Cookie coffee shop a few doors down from Oakwood Palace, told the Dispatch: “They had twelve roofers on the building when it caught ablaze. It was accidental.
“There were police cars and fire engines everywhere and they contained it quickly and luckily no-one was hurt.”
