Gideon ‘Gidz’ Antwi defeated Bulgarian challenger Milen Paunov at York Hall and remains undefeated as a pro
Edmonton heavyweight boxer Gideon ‘Gidz’ Antwi won his second fight as a professional on Saturday (7th) in a four-round contest at York Hall.
Antwi comfortably defeated Bulgarian challenger Milen Paunov at the world-famous venue in Bethnal Green.
The Amazon delivery driver was a national champion as an amateur before making his much-anticipated debut in the professional ranks in October.
Returning to York Hall for his second fight as a pro this past Saturday, Antwi faced game challenger Milen Paunov who had travelled from Bulgaria to take the fight.
The Edmonton man came out swinging in the early moments of the contest, pinning Paunov to the ropes and landing combinations of four and five punches on the durable Bulgarian.
Commentating the bout – broadcast live on Talksport and Fightzone – were well-known journalist Spencer Oliver and light-heavyweight contender Dan Azeez, who noted that Antwi looked “a different man from the first fight – this time he’s really come meaning business”.
Outclassing Paunov with superior movement through rounds two and three, Antwi stepped up a gear in the fourth, and at moments it looked as though the action could be stopped, much to the delight of his loyal army of supporters.
Being interviewed after the fight, Antwi said: “My fans call me the taxman. Because I’ll make you miss and then I’ll make you pay.”
Looking ahead to the new year, he added: “In 2025 I want a lot more fights and I want to get my name in the rankings so everyone knows who I am and I can fight for titles.”
