An Edmonton theatre company known for its inclusive ethos has won a top prize at the The Mental Health Awards.

Face Front Inclusive Theatre was nominated in the category for ‘most innovative proactive wellbeing activity’ for its community groups and outreach and was named the winner of the prize at a glitzy ceremony in Berkshire on Thursday (9th).

The Mental Health Awards are described as “a celebration of successful interventions and inspirational stories of people who have experienced recovery”. Since 2019 organisations, services and individuals have been awarded for their “relentless work toward making a difference in their communities”.

Reacting to Face Front’s big win, artistic director Ray Downing said: “The evening was both humbling and inspirational.

“This award was a real team effort, and we pay tribute to our core staff team, freelancers, participants and supporters.”

Awards chair Richard Daniel Curtis said: “We are passionate about mental health, and these awards are dedicated to everybody who has had a positive impact in supporting other people who struggle with their mental health.

“Every person or business nominated for an award deserves it for the monumental efforts they have put in to help others and to make a difference where it is needed.

“The Mental Health Tick is proud to organise these awards – and we are equally proud to be able to reward these people for the wonderful work they do.”
