Christians Against Poverty is launching free weekly life skills sessions for people in Enfield who are struggling with rising prices

A group of 16 local churches are now working together with a debt and budgeting charity to offer free, practical help to people struggling with the rising cost-of-living in Enfield.
While the churches involved already run a local, free debt help service, job club and money coaching sessions, they are now launching a new life skills group based at Enfield Vineyard Church – with help from Christians Against Poverty (CAP).
An official launch event is taking place tomorrow (Wednesday) as part of Challenge Poverty Week, from 6.30pm at Enfield Baptist Church in Cecil Road.
CAP Life Skills is a “friendly and relaxed” community group where people learn how to manage their finances and share top tips so they can help each other through life. Each week the group will cover different topics from how to cook healthy meals on a tight budget to how to save money on things like energy, food and other essentials.
It takes place over eight group sessions, while one-to-one sessions with a life skills coach are also available if anyone wants further help with their situation.
Nicky Routledge, CAP area manager in North London, said: “As part of Challenge Poverty Week all of our partnering churches and Christians Against Poverty are passionate about raising awareness of the need for urgent action to fight against poverty by providing more help to those on low incomes hit the hardest by rising costs.
“We also want to make people in Enfield and the surrounding communities aware of the free, practical help already available to them on their doorstep so they aren’t struggling alone.
“It can feel like a constant battle when you’re struggling to stay out of debt, eat well and juggle all of the other things life is throwing at you. Struggling financially often makes people feel really isolated and can negatively impact their mental health.
“That’s why we’re launching the CAP Life Skills group. We’re here to help anyone who feels they will benefit from joining a friendly group that will help each other through this difficult time and who wants to learn new skills along the way.”
People in Enfield are being invited to attend the free CAP Life Skills group. The sessions will begin on Monday, 6th November, from 10am-1pm at Enfield Vineyard Church, Brigadier Hill, and will then run on a weekly basis. To register your free place or to find out more:
