The UN Charter entered into force on 24th October 1945, now known as ‘UN Day’

Enfield and The Barnets United Nations Association (EBUNA) is hosting an event this month to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the UN Charter.
From 2pm on Friday, 17th October, at the birdbath in the Garden of Remembrance, Broomfield Park, there will be a short introduction and historical overview followed by a short speech “on the importance of international peace in today’s world”.
The purpose of the event is to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the UN Charter entering into force on 24th October 1945 – known as ‘UN Day’.
The event will occur at the birdbath as this was donated by the League of Nations Union and represents a historic emblem to the pursuit of global lasting peace.
EBUNA commissioned London Stone Works to refurbish the birdbath and will be unveiling it to commemorate the 30-minute event.
Refreshments will be available in the Palmers Greenery Community Café afterwards.
