Enfield Council will receive a six-figure sum from the government to help tackle homelessness and rough sleeping.

As part of the government’s additional £84million funding boost, Enfield has been allocated £370,039, split between cash for supporting children experiencing homelessness (93%) and a rough sleeping drug and alcohol treatment grant (7%)

The funding will help improve local support for families living in temporary accommodation and expand treatment and recovery services for people sleeping rough or at risk of homelessness.

Reacting to the news, which was announced on World Homelessness Day last Friday (10th), Enfield North MP Feryal Clark said: “I’m really pleased Enfield’s getting this funding from the Labour government to help tackle homelessness.

“Children are always the most vulnerable when a family loses their home, so this support will make a real difference. It’s about giving people stability, helping families get back on their feet, and preventing anyone from having to sleep rough in the first place.

“I’ll be working closely with Enfield Council and local charities to make sure the funding reaches those who need it most and strengthens the safety net for vulnerable residents right across our community.”
