A new ‘stay and play’ facility for children aged up to five years old has been launched by Enfield Council in Edmonton.

The space was unveiled by the council’s cabinet member for children’s services at Craig Park Youth and Family Hub last week. It offers a “secure and colourful environment” for young children and their families to engage in “play-based learning, socialising and developmental support”.

Cabinet member Abdul Abdullahi said: “Our hubs act as a one-stop support centre, and this new space will be a wonderful addition to the Craig Park Youth and Family Hub, which opened in July 2024.

“We are confident the stay and play space will provide a stimulating environment for children to grow, learn, and thrive.

“The space will also enhance our welcoming atmosphere for families, offering a place to connect with others, build relationships, and support their children’s wellbeing together.”

Following consultation and planning, the stay and play space was built in an underutilised external area, which was transformed into a purpose-built, child-friendly zone.

Construction was supported by Department for Education funding, with Enfield receiving more than £4.3million since 2022 and an additional £1.5m for 2025/26.

This expansion is part of the council’s broader family hubs initiative, which aims to deliver “integrated, accessible and effective services for families across Enfield”.
