The Sunday Times ranking of UK schools is seen as a definitive guide to the best performing schools in the country, reports Finn Logue

Seven schools across Enfield have been featured in the top 1,000 primary schools list published by The Sunday Times.
Hadley Wood Primary, Merryhills Primary, Enfield Heights Academy, Wolfson Hillel School, Walker Primary, St Pauls CofE Primary School and St Georges Primary school were all featured on the list.
Primary schools in London dominated the top rankings, with five of the top ten schools being in the capital.
Paul O’Rourke, headteacher of St George’s Primary School in Enfield Town, said: “This accolade is a testament to the hard work, dedication, and commitment each of our staff brings to our school every day.
“Especially in the current climate of limited funding and increasing challenges, their passion for providing an exceptional education and nurturing environment for our pupils shines through.”
The Sunday Times found that the highest performing schools placed focus on a wide range of reading, from Roald Dahl to Shakespeare.
Justyna Powrie, headteacher at Enfield Heights Academy in Enfield Highway, added: “This recognition matters because it reflects real children, in real classrooms, achieving great things every day.
“Our brilliant staff set high expectations, but what truly drives our success is the belief that every child here is capable of excellence.”
