Jade Shea has worked in social care for 20 years
A Southgate care home manager has been named as a finalist in a national awards for her role as an advocate for equality and diversity.
Hugh Myddelton Care Home’s general manager Jade Shea is a finalist in the Women Achieving Greatness in Social Awareness Awards, in the equality and diversity category.
Jade Shea has worked in social care for 20 years and joined Barchester Healthcare, the Old Farm Avenue care home’s owners, in 2022. She is part of the firm’s inclusion group.
A Barchester spokesperson said: “We couldn’t be any prouder of Jade and her dedication to making a difference every day.”
With over 85% of the social care workforce made up of women, many balance the demands of family life alongside their careers. The Women Achieving Greatness in Social Care Awards was established to recognise and “celebrate the remarkable contributions of female leaders across all roles and regions of the sector, while also creating a platform to uplift emerging stars and future leaders”.
A gala awards ceremony will be held on 28th November in central London, when the category winners will be announced.
