Top local priorities to help ‘make Enfield great again’ revealed

Thousands of Enfield residents responded to an online poll asking which local issues were the most urgent to address in the borough

Waste and cleanliness is the top issue residents wish to see addressed, according to a poll of Enfield residents.

Love Your Doorstep (LYDS), a leading community platform and local business network, recently conducted a public poll asking residents which improvement they thought “would help make Enfield feel like a better place to live again”.

LYDS says the poll, which attracted over 4,200 responses, gives an insight into the priorities of people living across the borough – highlighting both practical concerns and a desire for more transparency, safety, and local pride.

Behind waste and cleanliness, selected by 13% of poll respondents, reducing crime was selected by 11.5%, with “more visible value for the council tax we pay” – referring to services delivered by Enfield Council – being selected by 8.8% of residents.

LYDS founder Emma Rigby said: “This poll isn’t about politics – it’s about people. These results show that Enfield residents are passionate about where they live and want to see meaningful improvements. From cleaner streets and safer communities to better communication and preserving green space, this is a call to action from thousands of people who care.”

The poll also revealed recurring themes around support for youth services, preserving community events, repairing infrastructure, and helping volunteers and local organisations thrive.

Emma added: “We’re grateful to every single resident who took the time to vote. We’ll be sharing these results with Enfield Council, MPs, and community leaders, and we hope they’ll use this insight to guide future decisions and priorities.”

LYDS says it will be publishing a “full community report” responding to the public survey later this month, alongside a series of follow-up discussions aimed at continuing the conversation and turning the data into action.
