A downlight is suspected of causing the accidental blaze in Hertford Road

Firefighters tackled a blaze at a house in Freezywater yesterday afternoon (Sunday 10th) after two people escaped unharmed.
Eight fire engines and around 60 firefighters tackled the house fire in Hertford Road for two hours starting at around 3.20pm.
The first floor and roof of the semi-detached house were destroyed. A woman and a child had left the property before firefighters arrived and were assessed at the scene by London Ambulance Service crews.
One of the brigade’s 32-metre turntable ladders was used at the scene as a water tower to tackle flames from height.
Hertford Road was closed between Putney Road and Bullsmoor Lane during the firefighting operation. The blaze was under control by 5.20pm.
The cause of the fire is believed to have been accidental and involved a downlight.
