Work has started on building a new mental health hub in Bush Hill Park.

The construction of the “state-of-the-art” facility in Park Avenue is set to cost around £3.4million and is primarily funded through the Better Care Fund, an NHS England programme designed to integrate local care systems with a shared budget.

The new facility will bring together mental health services currently working across two different locations in Park Avenue and Silver Street, creating “one welcoming location offering high-quality, community-based support”.

Funding for the hub has also come from Section 106 funding – contributions by local developers – and Enfield Council’s corporate condition programme, which manages the improvement or replacement of council properties.

Once complete, the facility will provide specialist mental health services, a community café offering short-term crisis and preventative support and other initiatives. There will be help for service users to manage long-term conditions, access rehabilitation, and receive support into training, volunteering and employment.

At an event this week the council’s cabinet member for health and social care Alev Cazimoglu joined building contractors Greyline and Allen Construction Consultancy at the site of the new mental health hub.

Cllr Cazimoglu said: Today marks a hugely significant step forward in how we support residents experiencing mental health challenges. By bringing our services together under one roof, we are creating a warm, safe and accessible space where people can receive the right help at the right time.

“This hub reflects our commitment to prevention, early intervention and community support. I’m incredibly proud to see construction underway.”

The hub is expected to open its doors to residents in “late spring”.
