This year, as part of our 50th anniversary celebrations, Chickenshed is presenting a brand new adaptation of a much-loved Christmas classic.

Pan will run from 20th November to 11th January. It is a fresh imagining of Peter Pan and was chosen by a vote within the Chickenshed community, inspired by some previous productions.

The choice reflects the company’s deeply rooted belief in inclusivity and shared decision-making. The production of Pan is particularly fitting, as the story of a boy who never grows up resonates with Chickenshed’s mission to inspire the childlike wonder and imagination in all of us.

Louise Perry, Chickenshed’s managing director, has shared her excitement about the upcoming production and said: “This year’s Christmas show provides the perfect vehicle for cross-generational co-creation. Pan is decorated with the fingerprints of hundreds of cast members from previous decades and will carry us into the next half-century of excellence without exclusion.”

Audiences can expect an enchanting journey as Pan transports them from the starry night skies of London to the magical island of Neverland. Here, fairies flit, pirates plot, and the ‘lost ones’ seek their happy endings.

With a famously large and diverse cast, Chickenshed’s reimagining of this timeless tale will weave new magic into a story that has captivated hearts for generations. The show promises to be a vibrant celebration of creativity, featuring original music, dynamic choreography, and imaginative set designs that will immerse audiences in the fantastical world of Neverland.

In celebrating its 50th year, Chickenshed not only honours its rich history but also looks forward to a future filled with new beginnings and continued inclusivity. Pan is a testament to our theatre’s enduring mission; to create wonder out of chaos and change out of challenge.

Chickenshed’s influence extends beyond the theatre itself. Over the years, the company has developed a range of educational initiatives, including workshops, training programmes, outreach projects, and supported the development of 19 independent satellite sheds – 15 across the UK and four international sheds in Russia, Finland and North America. All are designed to foster creativity and build confidence in participants from diverse backgrounds. These initiatives have helped countless individuals discover their potential, develop new skills, and gain a sense of belonging.

Through its education programmes, Chickenshed continues to break down barriers and create opportunities for people of all abilities to engage with the arts.

As Chickenshed looks to the future, it remains dedicated to its founding principles of diversity, creativity and community. With a new generation of artists and performers eager to carry the torch, the company is poised to continue its legacy of ground-breaking theatre that welcomes everyone for many years to come.

Adapted from Peter Pan by JM Barrie, Pan promises to be an experience that will thrill, inspire, and remind us all of the transformative power of theatre. Whether you are a long-time supporter or a first-time visitor, we at Chickenshed invite you to be a part of our ongoing journey to make theatre a place where everyone belongs.
