A domestic abuse charity in Enfield is appealing for votes to win a “makeover jackpot” after being named as one of ten finalists in a London-wide competition.

Family Based Solutions is campaigning for the public’s support to come out on top in Leyland’s Big Community Makeover competition.

The good cause with the largest share of public support will win £5,000 worth of decorating and DIY product from any Leyland store, with two runners-up receiving £2,500 of product each. Voting closes on Saturday, 30th November.

Family Based Solutions supports families recovering from domestic abuse and also those experiencing challenging behaviour from their children.

A Big Community Makeover win would help the charity improve its office space in Chase Side Crescent, making it more appealing for families and helping to reach more teenagers.

A spokesperson for Family Based Solutions said: “We are very excited to be a finalist is this fantastic competition.

“As a charity, we are committed to going over and beyond to help each individual family.

“Our office has not been brightened up for a long time. Winning a haul of decorating products would help us to spruce it up and make it more modern and trendy.”

Big Community Makeover attracted more than 250 entries, with judges at Leyland whittling it down to a final ten.

Martin Hastings, CEO of Leyland, said: “We are delighted to launch the next stage of our Big Community Makeover competition, which sees ten very worthy good causes go head-to-head in a battle for public support.

“All of these groups do amazing work in their local community and have big plans if they are successful in securing one our top prizes. I can’t wait to see who comes out on top.”
