Help available for the next generation of producers

A leading spoken word poetry organisation has designed a programme to develop local talent in partnership with Enfield Council

Young people passionate about producing events are being invited to apply for a new creative skills course in Enfield.

In partnership with Enfield Council and Dugdale Arts Centre (DAC), England’s leading spoken word poetry organisation Poet in the City at Apples and Snakes has designed the Enfield Young Producers Programme to help develop the talent of young producers, whether they are just starting out or looking to sharpen existing skills.

From gaining key industry skills by working with some of the UK’s leading poets to getting hands-on training, the programme will offer transferable skills in creative producing, programming, production and marketing.

The in-person sessions will take place over the course of ten weeks, with initial interviews on Wednesday, 27th November.

Successful applicants will begin their first workshop on Wednesday, 11th December at the Dugdale and will receive a bursary of £650 to further support their progress.

Enfield Young Producers Programme is funded by the government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund and Arts Council England.

Chinelo Anyanwu, the council’s cabinet member for environment, culture and public spaces, said: “We will always champion our young people to grow, learn and develop their skills. By working with trailblazers such as Poet in the City at Apples and Snakes, Enfield Council will help to bring fresh opportunities to young people and support their professional development, setting them on the path to fantastic creative careers.”
