An Enfield-based wellbeing business was recently celebrated at the House of Lords for its contribution to innovation, sustainability and community-driven entrepreneurship.

The founder of SheaClass Ltd, Molly Sobola, visited the Houses of Parliament earlier this month to celebrate the brand’s success in a national microbusiness scaling initiative.

SheaClass creates high-quality, natural wellbeing products and took part in the Small and Mighty Enterprise Programme, which, over a six-week period, aims to support the UK’s smallest firms to grow.

Molly said: “This event will empower me to accelerate faster than I could have done on my own. The power of a network is a net worth. This includes meaningful connections, brand visibility and technological advancement for growth.”

The programme is run by Small Business Britain, the UK’s leading champion of small businesses, in partnership with Xero, a global small business platform, and ARU Peterborough.

Since it was created three years ago, the programme, which is free of charge, has trained over 4,000 businesses, providing expert-led guidance and mentorship to help them expand.

Michelle Ovens CBE, founder of Small Business Britain, said: “Microbusinesses may be small in size, but they’re powerful drivers of innovation, growth and resilience in our economy. It was a joy to celebrate alongside Molly and the incredible entrepreneurs who took part in the programme.”

With the right support, small businesses appear to be prospering. In fact, two thirds of the UK’s smallest and youngest firms expected to grow by 50% over five years, according to research conducted by Small Business Britain and Xero last year.

Kate Hayward, managing director at Xero UK, said: “The smallest firms often face unique challenges, and the Small and Mighty programme provides crucial, tailored support to help them navigate these, freeing them up to focus on growth and contribute even more to our economy.”
