The Enfield North MP will take up a job in the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology
Enfield North MP Feryal Clark has been appointed to serve in the new Labour government.
Clark, who previously held a number of shadow minister roles in opposition, has been named as a parliamentary under-secretary of state.
The Labour MP had a background in science before entering politics, having studied biomedical science at university, followed by a masters in bioinformatics. She then worked in the NHS, in pathology, for six years.
After winning re-election as MP at last week’s general election, Clark told the Dispatch she was “looking forward” to hearing from Number 10 about a potential government appointment and that she would be “delighted” to serve if the opportunity arose.
After her appointment, Clark said: “It’s a huge privilege to have been asked to serve as parliamentary under-secretary of state in the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology.
“I am really excited to be joining DSIT, the digital centre of government, delivering better services and using science and innovation to power growth.”
