Zumba, swimming and weight-lifting among free activities available, writes Madison Yarbrough

Local residents can enjoy a range of free activities at Enfield leisure centres tomorrow (Wednesday 24th).
Free activities including zumba, swimming and weight-lifting workshops will be provided at three Enfield leisure centres for National Fitness Day. Celebrating its 14th year, the programme is run by leisure industry body UKActive and aims to draw attention to the positives of exercise and fitness.
Working under this year’s theme, ‘powered by you’, National Fitness Day 2025 emphasises that fitness starts with the individual and their community taking a “first step” to long-term benefits in both physical and mental health.
Vishal Karia, a partnership manager with GLL, which operates Enfield’s leisure centres on behalf of the council, said: “It has never been more important for the public to embrace activity and fitness as an aid to mental and physical health, so we are delighted to join this year’s National Fitness Day campaign by offering a host of free classes and activities for everyone.
“No matter what your state of fitness, taking small steps to be more active more often will have huge benefits throughout your life.”
The Enfield locations taking part are Albany Leisure Centre, Southgate Leisure Centre and Southbury Leisure Centre.
