Keep your fingers crossed for a mild December in Enfield.

Southgate District Scouts, led by the 20th and 23rd troops, will prepare to brave the cold this festive period and raise vital funds for us at All People All Places.

The scouts are taking part in their annual cardboard sleep-out event, providing an opportunity for young people to learn about the issues that lead to homelessness and raise funds to tackle it locally.

Last year’s event raised £4,800 for our charity and this year they are hoping to go even further and raise an incredible £5,000.

All People All Places runs Enfield’s only day centre for rough sleepers and those at risk of homelessness, providing an open access service where clients can access showers, hot meals and do their laundry, as well as ongoing casework and advocacy support to resolve their homelessness.

This year, our winter appeal is raising awareness of the costly and destructive impact that temporary accommodation is having on families across Enfield and the capital. We’re delighted the Southgate District Scouts have chosen to support our work through their cardboard sleep-out and wish them all the best on the night.

The All People All Places appeal this year is an opportunity for those taking part and the wider community to understand that rough sleeping is just the tip of the iceberg when talking about homelessness in the capital.

With over 175,000 London households in temporary accommodation, this is a hidden crisis that is devastating families. The appeal this year is seeking to shine a light on the issue. Every day we are undertaking vital preventative work to stop households becoming homeless in the first place, as well as supporting those individuals that do, sadly, find themselves rough sleeping.

In addition to the support from the Southgate District Scouts, this year St Paul’s Church in Winchmore Hill is also raising funds for All People All Places through their annual, free to attend, ‘Carols on the Green’ event.

This community event is growing in popularity every year, with mulled wine and mince pies, and is a fantastic opportunity for the community to come together and sing some festive carols and raise funds to tackle homelessness locally.

The event takes place on Wednesday. 18th December from 5.30pm-6.45pm. It is held outside on The Green in Winchmore Hill, so wrap up warm!

The All People All Places winter appeal runs until 30th December, during which time all donations up to £250 per person are doubled via the Aviva Community Fund:
