Enfield Southgate MP Bambos Charalambous has cut the ribbon to reopen a newly refurbished post office in Oakwood.

Bramley Road Post Office has undergone a “major transformation” under new postmaster Sathiaseelan Easwarakuma, who took over from long-serving Navin Shah.

The newly reopened branch now boasts a new shop front, shelving, lighting and ceiling. But Sathiaseelan has kept the newspapers and cards that were already popular with customers, while adding convenience retail. It has also now extended its opening hours.

Bambos said: “I really want to thank new postmaster Sathiaseelan Easwarakumar for his big investment into Bramley Road Post Office and shop, which looks excellent. It is a real boost to this area. The impressive new opening hours from early until late will help the community, who live busy lives, to be able to visit at opening times convenient for them.”

The shop is now open seven days a week. Sathiaseelan said: “Customers are really happy with all the changes made and the greater retail range now available. They are giving great reviews.

“People are coming in and with all the changes made they find it hard to believe that it is the same shop as before. I’ve had a warm welcome from customers, who are lovely.

“It’s a very convenient location to pop in as there is free parking right outside, apart from 2–3pm to stop all-day parking. It makes it easy for people to pop in with their parcels or to do their banking on behalf of all the major high street banks, or to buy goods from the shop. I worked out what worked well with my other Post Offices in terms of retail and introduced those ranges here.”

Mohammed Islam, Post Office’s network provision lead, said: “We are delighted by this modernised post office and new convenience store. The greatly extended opening hours will make it so easy for our customers to access our services including banking, sending
and collecting mail, home shopping returns and bill payments.”
