Police have charged a man with the murder of 16-year-old Taye Faik in Edmonton last month.

Bernard Carroll, aged 19 and of Church Street in Edmonton Green, was arrested on Monday (6th) and appeared at Barkingside Magistrates’ Court yesterday (Wednesday 8th).

Taye Faik was attacked at around 11.27pm on Sunday, 1st October, in Kendal Gardens. Officers attended along with ambulance colleagues but, despite the best efforts of the emergency services, Taye was pronounced dead at the scene.

A post-mortem examination established the cause of Taye’s death as sharp force trauma to the chest.

As well as Carroll’s charge, police investigating Taye’s death arrested a 16-year-old girl on suspicion of murder but have now released her on bail, while three other people –  a 20-year-old man, a 22-year-old woman and another 22-year-old woman – were arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender, before also being bailed.

Detective Inspector Ben Dalloway is investigating. He said: “I’d like to thank the members of the public who have come forward to speak to us so far. We remain keen to hear from anyone who has yet to speak to police; the slightest fragment of information could prove crucial.

“Any witnesses who are yet to speak with police and anyone with information that may assist the investigation should submit this via our special online portal.”
