Victim Jalal Khan was assaulted while withdrawing cash outside Ponders End Post Office during daylight hours

A pensioner attacked outside Ponders End Post Office three weeks ago has died in hospital.

It’s understood Jalal Khan had been withdrawing money from a cash machine when he was ambushed and robbed at around 11am on Thursday, 30th October.

The 76-year-old was found with serious head injuries and was taken to hospital by the London Ambulance Service in a life-threatening condition.

Sadly, the Metropolitan Police has confirmed that Jalal died in hospital yesterday (Wednesday 19th). His family are being supported by specialist officers.

Jaesis Boatswain, aged 40 and of Swan Walk in Ponders End, was previously charged with grievous bodily harm, assault, robbery and threatening a person with a knife.

Given the victim has now died, these charges are likely to be reassessed by the Crown Prosecution Service.

Boatswain is next due to appear at Wood Green Crown Court on Wednesday, 10th December.
