Most of the first floor and roof of the detached house was destroyed by the fire

A woman escaped from a house fire in Palmers Green today (Tuesday 23rd) which destroyed most of the property.
Six fire engines and around 40 firefighters tackled the fire in Ensign Drive this afternoon.
Most of the first floor and roof of a detached house was destroyed by the fire, while part of the first floor and roof of a neighbouring house was also badly damaged.
Fortunately, no-one was injured, with one woman having left the property before London Fire Brigade arrived.
Brigade control officers took the first of 15 calls at 1.49pm and mobilised firefighters from Tottenham, Hornsey, Chingford, Finchley and Barnet fire stations to the scene. The fire was under control by 3.38pm.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
The blaze was the second serious fire in Enfield borough in as many days, with a block of flats in the Carterhatch area going up in flames yesterday morning (Monday 22nd).
