Christmas markets and celebrations are taking place in various corners of the borough
Enfield residents are invited to enjoy a bumper weekend of festive markets and celebrations around the borough this Saturday and Sunday.
In Palmers Green, there are two events planned. Friends of Broomfield Park are hosting a ‘Christmas Craft Sale’ from 10am-4pm on Saturday (7th), in the park’s former bowls pavilion. There’ll be “exquisite items” for sale made by friends volunteers, including bug hotels, honey pots, nesting boxes, paper knives, greeting cards, lino prints, artwork and home baking produce, including biscuits and apple and tomato chutney.
On Sunday (8th) from 10am-4pm, a ‘Festive Makers Market’ will return to Devonshire Square in Palmers Green, organised by Arbeit Studios. The market brings together local businesses, makers and artists, with an opportunity to see Arbeit’s latest artist-in-residence exhibition at the nearby studio in Green Lanes, with a free glass of mulled wine.
At Angel Yard in Edmonton on Saturday, from 11am-6pm, a festive-themed pop-up makers’ market will help visitors pick up some unique gifts from an exciting range of sellers, while being serenaded by some merry carol singers.
At Arnos Park in Arnos Grove on Sunday, from 11am-2pm, Father Christmas will be paying a visit, while the adults can indulge in mulled wine, enjoy music and buy crafts from local sellers.
Finally, Southgate’s new ‘pocket park’ in Station Parade is hosting a Christmas celebration on Saturday, from 2pm-5pm, with refreshments, songs by Enfield Choral Society, and a tour of the council’s new public realm installations in the town centre, finishing at St Andrew’s Church in Chase Side, where models of local schoolchildren’s vision of an improved Southgate will be exhibited.
