The Southgate charity’s ‘The Space Between Us’ programme has been honoured with The Dream Intergenerational Team Award

Chickenshed Theatre has picked up an award for its work to bridge the gap between old and young generations.
The Southgate charity’s ‘The Space Between Us’ programme has been honoured with The Dream Intergenerational Team Award at the 2025 InCommon Age Friendly Awards.
The Space Between Us is Chickenshed’s ground-breaking intergenerational programme that brings together people of all ages and backgrounds to explore, create, and connect. Rooted in the theatre’s ethos of inclusion, it breaks down barriers between generations through collaborative projects that celebrate diversity, promote empathy, and build lasting relationships.
In partnership with Age UK Enfield, The Gladrags Secret Society was developed as a joyful and imaginative production; a world where “glitter meets glamour, where hearts are touched, and souls are lifted”. The unique project takes participants on a nostalgic journey through the decades, offering the chance to meet new friends of all ages and dress up for a glamorous, posh afternoon out.
Designed especially for people aged 60 and over, Gladrags offers a “glittering celebration of community, connection, and self-expression through theatre, storytelling, and performance”.
Susan Jamson from Chickenshed said: “Winning The Dream Intergenerational Team Award is a testament to the creativity, commitment, and community spirit of everyone involved in The Space Between Us and Gladrags. It also highlights the powerful outcomes that can be achieved through true collaboration between organisations like Chickenshed and Age UK Enfield united by a vision of a more inclusive and connected society.
“We extend our heartfelt thanks to InCommon for this recognition, to our partners at Age UKEnfield, and to all the incredible individuals who have been part of this inspiring journey over the last three years.
“Together, we are proving that the space between the generations – is something, at Chickenshed, we can fill with joy, connection and understanding.”
