The Rotary Club of Edmonton’s annual presentation evening saw a number of local groups benefit from support totalling thousands of pounds

The Rotary Club of Edmonton presented a series of donations totalling around £3,000 to local groups and charities at its annual presentation evening last night (Tuesday 24th).
The club, which has been running for nearly a century, regularly raises money for local charities, particularly through its Christmas fundraising drive featuring club members dressed as Santa Claus.
Last year the club was unable to hire a ‘sleigh’ for the fundraiser as it has done previously but instead sent Santa out to a number of Enfield pubs spread across the borough with the aim of collecting donations.
These donations were presented to the club’s chosen charities at last night’s special presentation evening at Botany Bay Cricket Club.
Among the recipients of cheques for £350 each were Cooking Champions, a foodbank supporting vulnerable people; ATC Edmonton, a local branch of the RAF’s cadets programme; Edmonton United Football Club; Forty Hill School; plus two local Scouts groups.
Aaron Bradley-Green from ATC Edmonton thanked the Rotary club for its support and said: “We have done very well over the last few years and it has enabled our cadets to have lots of opportunities they wouldn’t otherwise have had, including taking them rock climbing every other week since last summer.
“We are heavily indebted to you [Rotary] and I can’t thank you enough.”
Edmonton Rotary president David Littleton said it wasn’t possible without the support of club members, and added: “This is a great event for this club, what we can do in future you never know, but if you [local charities] are in need of various equipment we can help. Our aim is to continue doing it as long as possible.”
