Hundreds of A-Level students have collected their exams results in Enfield borough today (Thursday 15th) amid increasing rates of top grades across the country.

The top A-Level results across England, Wales and Northern Ireland have risen for the first time since 2021 – with 27.8% of grades marked at A* or A, up from 27.2% last year.

At Ark John Keats Academy in Enfield Wash, students celebrated a strong set of both A-Level and BTEC results, with many securing places at top universities; 61% of A-Level pupils secured A*-C and 43% of BTEC students scored D*DD or higher.

These results ensured that students will go on to study at a variety of top destinations including Cambridge, Bath, Durham, Manchester, Warwick, St Andrews and University College London.

Arrandeep was one of the school’s highest-performing students. He achieved A*A*A in English literature, psychology and history, to secure himself a place at Cambridge University to study history. Upon receiving his results, Arrandeep said: “Even though I had put the hard work in, it was still a great relief to read my results.

“I am so excited to be going to Cambridge, it will be such an enriching experience. Once I have completed my studies at university, I hope to do a conversion course to Law, so I can work in diplomacy – perhaps working in foreign embassies – I love to travel so this would be perfect!”

Grace also achieved brilliant results, with an A* in English literature and As in both history and sociology. Grace put her success down to her hard work and commitment, saying: “Effort and tenacity has actually paid off! I am a people person, so I am hoping to specialise in Human Rights Law. I am passionate about making a difference to people’s lives.”

Ark John Keats principal Katie Marshall said: “Yet again, we are incredibly proud of our students who have achieved an excellent set of results and thoroughly deserve the places they have secured at a range of top destinations across the country. I’d like to use this opportunity to thank parents and staff who have supported our students throughout their studies at Ark John Keats.”

Meanwhile, at Oasis Academy Enfield in Enfield Lock, scores of students are looking forward to taking their next steps after securing some “phenomenal” results.

Tilbe was one of the highest achieving students with an A* in art, A in mathematics and an A in criminology. She wants to pursue a career in interior design and is going to study at the National Academy of Design.

Emin achieved an A in mathematics, an A in Turkish and an A in criminology. He is off to Kings College London to study computer science. Emin said: “I am so pleased with my results! While I am sorry to be leaving Oasis Academy Enfield, I can’t wait to go on to a new
challenge at university.”

Obioma picks up her results at Oasis Academy Enfield

Obioma achieved an A* in mathematics, a B in physics and an A in criminology. She is now off to study mechanical engineering at the University of Birmingham. “I didn’t expect to get such amazing results. Thank you to all my teachers for helping me get these results and I am looking forward to studying mechanical engineering. I hope this inspires lots of young women to venture into Stem!”

Emma Robinson, principal at Oasis Academy Enfield, said: “This year’s results day has been very different to previous celebrations, it’s great to be here today to mark the individual achievements of our young people and we are excited about their destinations and next
steps in their lives. We are deeply proud of them.

“These young people now leave us with the qualifications that they need to go on to university or into work, confident in the fantastic grades that they have achieved – we wish them all the very best for in their future endeavours.”
