Some properties are without running water while others have low pressure as Thames Water struggles to repair damaged pipes

Around 750 properties in Enfield are being affected by a “complex” leak Thames Water has spent more than two days trying to repair.
Free bottled water is being handed out at a dedicated station in Forty Hall Estate for those affected by the leak, which reportedly includes homes in the EN1, EN2, N14 and N21 postcode areas.
The leak itself is in Bramley Road, between Oakwood and Cockfosters, but because it is a major water main the problem is affecting a wide area.
It was first reported on Sunday (16th) at around 9am and, by 3.45pm that day, Thames Water reported that “the repair will take some days to complete”.
A Thames Water information webpage warned: “We know that some surrounding postcodes are experiencing issues with their water supply, and we’re working to divert water around the pipes in the area to keep any disruption to a minimum, tankers are also being mobilised to pump additional water into the network. Until the repair is complete, it is likely your pressure will be lower than normal, but things will return to normal once we’ve fixed the broken pipe.”
However, by Monday morning (17th) Thames Water reported that “overnight the situation became more challenging as the leak worsened, causing water pressure to continue falling across parts of the network”.
The privately-owned utility firm added: “We are planning a complex repair and putting additional measures in place to help stabilise the network and minimise the impact on customers. We are using all available resources to maintain supplies and restore normal service as quickly and safely as possible.”
The bottled water station was set up later on Monday, in the car park at Forty Hall, with bottled water deliveries also being made.
In a further update this morning (Tuesday 18th) Thames Water admitted that the repairs being carried out in Bramley Road are “complex”.
It continued: “We are mobilising additional specialist resources to support the work and minimise disruption to customers.
“Traffic management remains in place in the area while our teams continue their work. Our current plan is to carry out the repair tonight, with specialist repair teams ready to begin once the necessary network preparations have been completed.
“We are continuing to put measures in place to protect customer supplies, including tankers and bottled water stations. Some customers may experience low water pressure or interruptions to their supply while the network is under pressure.
“If you or someone you know needs a little extra support, our free Priority Services Register can help us to understand your situation so we can take it into account as best we can.
“The bottled water station is still open until 9pm tonight to provide additional support to the affected areas.”
