Deal between Openreach and Enfield Council to see “faster, more reliable broadband” made available to more than 1,500 properties across more than 50 buildings

Thousands of people living in flats and apartments in Enfield will soon benefit from improved internet connections.
BT Openreach has joined forces with Enfield Council to make full-fibre broadband available in blocks of housing that didn’t previously have it.
The agreement will see “faster, more reliable broadband” made available to more than 1,500 properties across over 50 buildings initially, with a deal in place to connect thousands more in the future.
Full fibre technology offers a “faster, more reliable broadband connection”. It enables users to connect multiple devices at gigabit-capable speeds.
Lilly Cunningham from Openreach said: “We’re thrilled to be working with the Enfield Council on this significant broadband upgrade.
“Working together is a crucial step in making sure that residents across Enfield have access to some of the best broadband available anywhere in the UK.
“The upgrades are not automatic, so once full fibre is available, tenants should contact their broadband provider, place an order to get connected, and we’ll do the rest.”
The flats and apartments will join more than 2.3 million homes and businesses across London that already have access to full fibre through Openreach.
Ayten Guzel, the council’s cabinet member for housing, said: “We are pleased to be working with Openreach to bring faster, more reliable Full Fibre broadband to thousands of our residents. Access to high-quality digital connectivity is essential for work, education and staying connected with family and friends.
“This investment means residents living in our council homes will benefit from modern infrastructure that supports everyday life. Improving the quality of our housing stock is a key priority for the council, and this programme is an important step in delivering on our housing asset management strategy.”
Packages are available from a wide range of broadband providers. Depending on the deals available, residents may pay similar, or even less, per month than their current bill.
People can see if they can upgrade to full fibre by visiting Openreach’s full fibre checker.
