A big shake-up is planned by Transport for London to help boost public transport options at the growing redevelopment site

Transport for London (TfL) has launched a public consultation on a series of changes to bus routes in and around the Meridian Water redevelopment in Edmonton.
Meridian Water is currently served by only two bus routes, the 192 and 341, with only the former connecting the area to other parts of Edmonton and Enfield.
With thousands of homes set to be built in the area over the coming years, TfL has drawn up a plan to reconfigure several bus routes that will mean Meridian Water is better served.
Under the shake-up plans, both the 192 and 341 would stop serving Meridian Water entirely – but be replaced by three other services with extended routes.
A TfL consultation website states: “Meridian Water is being transformed into a new community within Edmonton, providing new homes, employment, services and infrastructure. The first new homes were delivered in 2024, and more are currently under construction. Our proposals aim to ensure that public transport keeps pace with this growth and that new residents and businesses are well served.”
The W8 which currently runs from Chase Farm Hospital to Lee Valley Leisure Park is proposed to run down to Tottenham Hale via Meridian Water instead. This means it would stop serving Pickett’s Lock, but to compensate for this the 192 will terminate there instead.
The 476 bus route from King’s Cross to Northumberland Park would be extended to Meridian Water, which TfL argues is a better option than the current 341 bus, which would instead terminate at Northumberland Park. A new night bus, the N341, would ensure there remains a night service to Meridian Water.
Meanwhile the 444, a bus which connects Turnpike Lane and Chingford via the North Circular, is proposed to include a diversion through Meridian Water in future.
If all the changes go ahead, Meridian Water would gain direct bus links to Chase Farm Hospital, King’s Cross, Turnpike Lane and Chingford, while maintaining and improving existing links to Enfield Town, Edmonton Green and Tottenham Hale.
By replacing the 192 with the W8, TfL’s consultation website states that the change would provide “a higher frequency of service and double deck buses to increase capacity to accommodate growing demand in the area”.
TfL also states that the extension to the 476, effectively replacing the 341, means “we can provide similar connections while maintaining a dependable service across the network”.
A public consultation is now open and continues until Monday, 23rd February.
Other changes to bus services in eastern Enfield, including the axing of the 349 bus, were also proposed earlier this month.
