Edmonton Sea Cadets, which recently moved to its new home at Eco Park House, is looking for young people with a sense of adventure

Young people looking for water-based adventures are being encouraged to get involved with Edmonton Sea Cadets.
The cadets group this year took up residence at its new base, Eco Park House, on the banks of the River Lee Navigation in Edmonton. The facility, officially opened in June, has space to accommodate classroom learning and boating activities on the canal, offering “fantastic opportunities” for young people in the Edmonton area.
Edmonton Sea Cadets has been running continuously for 83 years and is open to young people aged from ten to 18 years.
The groups offers cadets a “world of challenges” including the chance to race sailing dinghies on UK lakes, powerboat down rivers, go offshore, achieve a B-TEC qualification and undertake a Duke of Edinburgh’s Award.
Lieutenant (SCC) Robert Earle RNR, the commanding officer at the unit, said: “We welcome all young people to pop by the unit when we’re open and get stuck into some of the exciting activities like sailing, kayaking and powerboating that we offer.
“It’s a fantastic opportunity to get to know other young people in the area and you will make some great friends, learn new skills that will give you a great head start in life and will really boost your confidence.”
Edmonton Sea Cadets is a part of national charity, Sea Cadets, which gives young people a “new perspective”. Working across the UK with 14,000 young people, the charity helps them “see the world with confidence” thanks to new skills gained through the challenge of nautical adventure and a Royal Navy ethos.
The unit is open Tuesdays and Thursdays, from 7.30pm to 9.30pm, at Eco Park House (N18 3AG). For more information:
