A veterinary care charity is organising a dog and owner fun run in Trent Park and is asking Enfield residents and pooches to join in.

The very first ‘Dog Dash’ is a 5km run/walk for dog owners and their pets and will take place at the Cockfosters park on Sunday, 12th May.

All the donations raised during the event will go directly to helping StreetVet, a charity which provides veterinary care and services to pets whose owners experience homelessness.

StreetVet is supported by nearly 600 volunteer vets and veterinary nurses who deliver free preventative and reactive care, from diagnostic tests, flea and worming treatment to sampling lumps. It also provides their patients with food, pet equipment and even microchips.

Collette Sheaff from StreetVet said: “StreetVet started as two vets and a backpack of medical supplies on the streets of London in 2016 and now has 24 outreach locations across the UK.

“Most of our clients describe their pets as family, their main source of mental health support, and credit their pet-human bond with giving them a reason to live. Our mission is simple, to protect the human-animal bond, keeping pets and their owners together wherever possible.”
