Almost £14,000 raised for local cancer charity at golf fundraiser

The Nightingale Cancer Support Charity held its annual golf day at Crews Hill Golf Course and even welcomed some Spurs legends

A gaggle of golfers helped raised a five-figure sum for an Enfield cancer charity.

The Nightingale Cancer Support Centre’s annual charity golf day proved to be an outstanding success, raising nearly £14,000 to support local people living with cancer.

Held at Crews Hill Golf Club, the event welcomed almost 100 golfers across 24 four-balls who took on the challenging 18-hole course in sweltering summer temperatures.

Despite the heat, participants remained in high spirits throughout the day, helped by refreshments generously provided by Halfway House sponsors Craigs Estate and J.P Management.

Adding to the excitement, the event also welcomed Tottenham Hotspur legends including Pat Jennings, Ossie Ardiles, Steve
Sedgley, Graham Roberts and Glen Hoddle. The former Spurs stars spent time chatting with golfers, volunteers and staff, many of whom are lifelong Tottenham supporters, before signing a Spurs canvas that was later auctioned to raise additional funds for the charity.

Following a closely contested tournament, guests enjoyed an evening meal, prize presentation, raffle and charity auction. Pat Jennings and Ossie Ardiles were part of the winning four-ball, Greensleeves Lawncare, adding another memorable moment
to an already successful day.

As The Nightingale does not receive any NHS or government funding, the Baker Street-based charity relies solely on the generosity of the local community. Chief executive Meral Nugent said: “We would like to thank everyone who took part on the day, those who donated prizes and our sponsors. Each of them helped us reach the phenomenal amount of £14,000 raised.

“A special thank you goes to the Spurs Legends for joining us and engaging with all attendees.

“It is wonderful to see the community come out to support their local charity. The generosity shown by everyone involved will have a lasting impact on local people affected by cancer. Every pound raised goes a long way in helping people when they need it most.”
