A man was shot dead at an Enfield Wash pub last night – and the killer is still at large.

Detectives today (Tuesday 20th) issued a CCTV image of their main suspect in the case after the killing took place at The Sun & Woolpack in Hertford Road.

On Monday (19th) at around 9.30pm, the emergency services were called to reports of a shooting at the pub, and a 35-year-old man was treated by paramedics for gunshot wounds. He was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

The victim’s family have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers. He has not yet been named.

CCTV enquiries identified a person detectives would like to speak to in connection with the investigation. An image released to the public shows someone with curly red hair, although this could be a wig. It’s also unclear at this early stage whether the suspect is a man or woman.

No arrests have been made and enquiries remain ongoing. A crime scene remains in place while officers continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the death.

Detective Chief Inspector Allam Bhangoo, who is leading the investigation, said: “Our thoughts are with the victim’s family and friends at this unimaginably difficult time as they begin to come to terms with this senseless act.

“We are releasing CCTV images of a person we would like to identify and speak to in connection with the investigation as our enquiries progress swiftly.

“We are also particularly keen to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time, or who may have CCTV, doorbell, dashcam or mobile phone footage that could assist our enquiries. Even information that may seem insignificant could prove crucial. No piece of information is too small, and I would urge anyone who believes they can help to contact police.”

Chief Superintendent Anna McCartney, who leads policing in the area, said: “We recognise the concern local people will have and can reassure them that our officers are working urgently to identify and trace those responsible.

“Serious violence has no place in our community, and the Met remains fully committed to tackling gun crime. We are determined to establish exactly what happened and provide much needed answers for those affected by this tragic incident.”

Anyone with information should contact police on 101, quoting CAD 7050/19OCT26, or contact the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 to remain anonymous.
