The victim of this week’s fatal shooting in Enfield Wash has been named – as their killer remains on the loose.

Erdem Mustafa, aged 35, was shot dead at The Sun & Woolpack in Hertford Road on Monday (19th), at around 9.30pm. He was treated for gunshot wounds by the emergency services but was pronounced dead at the scene.

More than 48 hours after the killing – which now seems very likely to have been a pre-planned assassination – detectives have yet to find the culprit or make any arrests whatsoever.

One CCTV image shows a suspect wearing what appears to be an orange wig, as a disguise.

Chief Inspector Allam Bhangoo, who is leading the investigation, said: “Our thoughts remain with Erdem’s loved ones following what is undoubtedly a tragic and senseless act that led to his death.

“We recognise local concerns following this incident and while detectives are keeping an open mind, we believe this to be a targeted attack.

“We are still urging those who have not yet come forward to do so if they have any information to share, or any CCTV, doorbell, dashcam or mobile phone footage.

“No detail is too small, and we urge anyone who can help to contact us.”

Chief Superintendent Anna Mccartney, who leads policing in Enfield, added: “We continue to recognise the concern local people have after this incident and can reassure them that detectives are working at pace to find those responsible for Erdem’s death.

“Extra officers remain in the area to offer further reassurance.

“Serious violence has no place in our community. The Met is committed to tackling gun crime, and we are determined to hold those who seek to do serious harm to account.”

Anyone with information should contact police on 101, quoting CAD 7050/19OCT26, or contact the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 to remain anonymous.

Enfield North MP Feryal Clark said she was “deeply saddened” by the killing and added: “I know this will cause considerable concern locally. Gun violence has no place in our community”.
