Appeal to help find ‘stolen’ dog in Palmers Green

The Yorkshire terrier is believed to have been snatched in a burglary which police are now investigating

A Palmers Green resident is appealing for help tracking down her beloved dog after it was apparently stolen in a burglary.

Ipek Yusuf’s Yorkshire terrier cross, Simba, has been missing since Thursday (18th) from her home in Meadowcroft Road, near Green Lanes.

Ipek came home on that evening to find her house had been burgled, and the front door left open, with Simba nowhere to be found. She doesn’t believe that he would have run away, however, and thinks he was likely stolen by the thieves.

She is now putting up a £500 reward for the safe return of Simba. Ipek told the Dispatch: “The dog was home alone, we found the door wide open but most people locally know Simba and he has a tag with my number. No-one has called me or handed him to a vet. We have put notices up across the whole borough to try to find him.”

Simba is nine-years-old and described as “looking like a puppy” because of his curly hair, although it was recently cut back. Simba is also neutered and microchipped.

“He is very sweet but will be timid if he doesn’t know people,” added Ipek.

A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said: “Detectives are investigating a reported burglary at a house in Meadowcroft [Road] which occurred on Thursday, 18th December.

“It is believed that the victims were not at the property when the incident occurred. When they returned home they discovered that a number of items were missing – including a safe, jewellery and their pet dog.

“While no arrests have been made at this stage, the investigation continues at pace. Officers are asking for those with information – particularly doorbell footage – to contact police via 101, quoting 01/8336917/25.”
