A poet from Arnos Grove has launched her latest collection of poems in a new book – drawing on some local inspiration.

Myra Schneider, a founding member of the Poetry in Palmers Green group, has launched Believing in the Planet via her publisher, Poetry Space. It is her 13th poetry collection since the first was published in 1984.

Myra, who has lived in Arnos Grove for the past 60 years, is known for her ability to find deep meaning in everyday life and balance despair with humour and hope.

Describing her latest book, Myra said: “It has a strong connection with my immediate surroundings as a number of the poems explore the environment and climate change by looking closely at the road I live in and its front gardens, and also Arnos Park which my house backs on to.

“The book has been very well received. Profits from it are being divided between the Woodland Trust and Cancer Research UK.”
