Shops and businesses across Palmers Green and Southgate said to be targeted by lone burglar last Thursday
A local charity is facing repair bills of up to £3,000 after suffering break-ins at two of its charity shops on the same night.
North London Hospice’s shops in Southgate and Palmers Green were both broken into in the early hours of Thursday (28th). Other businesses in the area were also targeted on the same night.
Donation boxes and a few other items were stolen from the charity but the main cost will be the repairs to the shop fronts and covering lost revenue while the shops are closed. The total cost of the damage is estimated between £2,500 and £3,000.
A statement from North London Hospice said: “We are deeply saddened by the recent break-ins at our shops in Palmers Green and Southgate, this is the fourth time that our stores have been targeted.
“Our shops help to raise vital funds for the hospice, supporting end-of-life care for people in our community. Police are investigating and appealing for witnesses.”
CCTV footage suggests the same lone person was responsible for both break-ins and is the likely culprit of other burglaries on the same night.
