A local artist has brought a splash of colour to an Edmonton street by transforming a waste bin into a work of art.

Albanian artist Gjovalin Dushaj painted a vibrant scene with mountains and trees on to a bin outside Valentin Café in Bounces Road.

Gjovalin said the artwork was painted to add “life” to the café as a gift to the owner, painted with intention of matching the pavement bin with the shopfront design.

The artist explained he has also painted bins in countries such as the United States and while he doesn’t plan to paint more bins in the area, he thanked the community for their support of his work.

Passers-by admired the transformation, describing the scenic addition as “beautiful”, with many taking to social media to express their appreciation for the scenic design.

On a post with over 100 likes, Farah Quansah said: “It’s a lovely thing to do for the community, good for the environment and a sight for sore eyes.”

Una Darrer said he thought it would brighten up the view for people passing through the area. “It looks lovely and anything joyful on your travels will cheer you up,” she added.

Gjovalin shares his work on Instagram under the account name @Dushaj_art
