Disabled adults from Enfield were among those competing in an event inspired by the London 2012 Paralympic Games.

The tenth-annual Rotary North London Disability Games, which was originally inspired by the success of the Paralympics in the capital, brought together disabled adults from across the region to compete for medals in table tennis, boccia bowls and ‘new age’ curling.

Enfield Chase Rotary and Edmonton Rotary helped organise the event, which took place in Stanmore, and ensured a team from local disability charity One to One Enfield could take part. They competed against teams from Harrow, Edgware, Borehamwood and Aylesbury, with 50 people taking part in total.

Organiser Scott Maclachlan, of Barnet Rotary, hailed the event a “great success” and thanked all the Rotary clubs “for their hard work on the day”.

As well as Enfield Chase, Edmonton and Barnet, clubs from Edgware and Stanmore, Elstree and Borehamwood, Golders Green, Kingsbury and Kenton, Northwick Park, Radlett, and Southgate were all involved.

Andy, from One to One Enfield, said: “A massive thank you to all of you for helping us with the Rotary Games on Sunday. You were all fantastic!

“We all had such a good time and yes, our members can’t wait until next year to participate again.”
