A twelve-year-old kickboxing sensation from Enfield will be competing for Team England on the world stage – but needs to raise £2,500 to get there.

Bella Chand has won 19 gold medals in her kickboxing career to date and has recently been selected to be a part of Team England this October at the ICO World Kickboxing Championships in France.

However, Sanjeev and Pam Chand, Bella’s parents, are currently raising money through a GoFundMe appeal to support Bella’s trip.

Bella started kickboxing when she was eight-years-old and has won 31 medals this year alone.

Explaining her introduction to the sport, Pam said: “We wanted her to learn some self defence.”

“To me, she’s an inspiration,” Pam continued.

“To win this competition, Bella would be able to say: ‘I’m a world champion and no-one can take that from me’.”

Pam and Sanjeev have so far raised over £1,700 to cover their expenses, but still need to reach their £2,500 target.

The expenses they need to cover include the flights to France, accommodation, competition entry fees, Team England kit, travel and event expenses, and training and preparation costs.

“The costs of competing internationally are largely paid for by the families themselves,” said Pam.

When Bella competed in Scotland for one of her competitions, Pam remembered the match not lasting long.

She said: “She was too strong.

“I was watching and that was one moment that was special to me.”

Pam recounted that the referee called off the match because of Bella’s strength, despite both girls being in the same age group.

But the match restarted and Bella won.

As the impressive victories stacked up, Pam noticed an increase in Bella’s followers on Instagram, including many children who see Bella as a role model.

“I just want her to get rewarded for what she does,” Pam said.
