Capital City Cobras have dominated the London college basketball scene for several years

An Enfield college’s basketball team has clinched a London regional title – for the fourth year in a row.
Capital City College (CCC) Enfield, formerly known as The College of Haringey, Enfield and North East London, has a reputation as a major competitor in college basketball, having previously won the national championship in 2023.
The Capital City Cobras team, based at the college campus in Hertford Road, Enfield Highway, has dominated the London basketball scene for several years.
At Leyton Score Centre last week, twelve men’s teams from colleges across London competed to win the Cobras’ London crown, but none could match the high standards they set, with Capital City winning all their group-stage matches before defeating Barnet and Southgate in the semi-finals and clinching the title against New City College in a thrilling final.
Robert Murphy, sports development manager at CCC, said: “We are immensely proud of the basketball team’s achievement. Their performance was outstanding, and it’s clear that the extra training sessions have paid off.
“The team thoroughly deserved this win, and we’re excited to see what they can achieve at the national championships.”
CCC basketball coach AJ Roberts added: “Credit for the boys showing up and getting the job done. Not an easy task trying to win your fourth regional in a row with all teams aiming to take you out. We will now focus our attention on nationals and try to come back as national champions!”
Meanwhile, CCC’s women’s basketball team narrowly missed out on the top spot, finishing second after a hard-fought final.
The men’s team will now represent London at the national championships in Nottingham this April, aiming to reclaim the national title.
