Enfield councillor appeals for help finding tortoise

Pat Gregory’s beloved pet has been her companion for 38 years

An Enfield councillor is appealing for help finding her pet tortoise after it was stolen from her garden.

Pat Gregory, who was burgled last month and fears the crimes could be linked, says that her pet may die if it does not get the specialist care it needs after being pinched.

It is one of two male tortoises that she keeps in the garden behind her house in Manorway, Bush Hill Park, and the Tory councillor says she is putting up a £200 reward for his return.

Cllr Gregory said: “Either the thieves came back or someone else stole my tortoise, that I have had since a six-week-old hatchling, for 38 years.

“He needs specialist care and I fear he will die if not returned. He is micro-chipped and I am offering a reward for his safe return. I have taken his partner to a safe home for now as he is missing him.

“My heart is breaking for my tortoise.”
