A crowdfunder has been launched to help an Enfield family after a little girl died while they were on holiday.

Last Tuesday (20th) toddler Jedidja Bakadipanda died from a heart attack linked to sickle cell disease while the family were on holiday in Turkey.

While the family have travel insurance, it is not enough to cover the full medical costs they have incurred, as well as the funeral costs.

In a message on the crowdfunding page the family say: “Our beautiful and beloved daughter, niece, sister, cousin and granddaughter Jedidja, also known as Didi, sadly passed away whilst on our family vacation in Turkey.

“Jedidja suffered from a disease called sickle cell in which she courageously fought through during her years with us. During her final days of her trip she fell ill due to her sickle cell but unfortunately she died tragically from a cardiac arrest.”

A friend of the family, Beverley Augusto, launched the crowdfunder on their behalf and said: “This all suddenly took place whilst in Turkey and has left the family in complete distress and heartbreak. Although her mother got travel insurance and all the other required facilities for their trip, the travel insurance could only cover so much.

“Therefore, we kindly reach out to you all and hope that we can touch your hearts to help raise some money which would go towards Jedidja’s funeral and memorial costs as well as the remaining medical costs from her treatment in the hospital in Turkey. Any contribution, no matter the size would be greatly appreciated.”

The family has raised nearly £6,500 so far and need another £2,000 to reach their target. Donate online:
