Conservative mayor Emma Supple said she did not know the mistake had been made while she was attending a conference

Mayor of Enfield Emma Supple has apologised after her chauffeur-driven car was spotted parked in a disabled bay without a Blue Badge.
The incident happened earlier today (Tuesday 6th) at Mental Health Community Hub in Park Avenue, where Cllr Supple was attending an autism conference.
As is normal for mayors, Cllr Supple is escorted to events she attends on behalf of Enfield Council via a dedicated car with a professional driver.
However, the mayoral vehicle was spotted parking illegally in a disabled bay by someone with a Blue Badge who was attending the conference but was unable to park at the venue as a result.
After a photo of the illegally-parked car was posted on a local Facebook group this morning, Cllr Supple later responded directly to the post.
She said: “My apologies. I was unaware that during my visit to the autism conference, the mayors car had been parked in a disabled bay.
“It was moved as soon as we were informed.
“I am sorry that this has occurred, it should not have happened.”
The Facebook post in the ‘Enfield Matters’ group attracted 42 comments before an administrator turned off commenting.
One person asked: “Parking ticket being issued? And they mayor should pay it personally, not out of expenses.”
