Free careers advice is available for students unsure about where to go next
Students from schools across the borough have received their GCSE results and are now planning their next steps.
At Enfield County School for Girls in Enfield Town this morning, pupil Pearl said after receiving her results: “Some of my grades were higher than expected and others were lower, but they are all grades A to C, so overall I’m happy with that.”
Headteacher Jennifer Gumbrell said: “We are delighted for our students whose hard work and dedication to their studies has culminated in well deserved GCSE results. I would like to thank all colleagues and parents for their commitment to the students at our school.”
At Oasis Academy in Enfield Lock, spirits were high as year eleven students picked up their results. Among them was Arda, who achieved two grade nines, five grade eights and one grade seven. Arda said: “I am absolutely over the moon! The support from all my teachers has been brilliant and I could not be happier with the results I got.”
Emma Robinson, principal at Oasis Academy Enfield, said: “We are extremely proud of our young people and so happy to see that all of their hard work has led to success. At Oasis Academy Enfield, our ethos is to ‘best the best you can be,’ and providing every opportunity for our young people to be just that.
“We are ecstatic about how much progress they have made, as more students than ever are leaving us with the qualifications that they need to make the next step in their career.
“This year’s success is also a credit to our fantastic teachers.”
At Oasis Academy Hadley in Ponders End, pupil Melisa achieved two grade eights, three grade sevens, two grade sixes and one grade five. She will now be going on to study psychology, economics and maths A-Levels at Hadley’s sixth form. She said: “ I cannot wait for what is to come next and I am looking forward to learning new things.”
Chris Goddard, head of year at Oasis Academy Hadley, said: “We are absolutely delighted with our students’ results today – their hard work has truly paid off. On behalf of all their teachers, results day is the highlight of our academic year in order to celebrate their success. We wish our students all the best in their future endeavours and their collective achievements are a source of inspiration for
all”.
Abdul Abdullahi, cabinet member for children’s services at Enfield Council, said: “We are immensely proud of Enfield’s pupils, teaching staff and schools for their hard work and remarkable achievements.
“Enfield’s students have obtained tremendous GCSE results and I would like to wish every single one of them well in all their future endeavours.
“Enfield Council is working with its schools so they provide supportive, nurturing environments where our young people can learn and grow mentally and emotionally.
“We will continue to work with headteachers, teachers and parents to instil a determination in our young people to realise their full potential.
“This day is a very exciting time for all but can be a nerve-racking experience for a few. There are a lot of choices for pupils after GCSEs; for any students unsure of their next steps, Enfield Council offers excellent support to help young people decide on their next steps.”
