Orinthia Lloyd entered the competition as a representative of Montserrat, a British overseas territory

An arts student and former member of Enfield Youth Parliament is a finalist in the competition to be crowned ‘Miss Caribbean UK’.
Orinthia Lloyd, a former head girl at Heron Hall Academy in Ponders End, entered the competition as a representative of Montserrat, a British overseas territory known as the ‘Emerald Isle’ of the Caribbean.
Now an undergraduate at London College of Contemporary Arts, Orinthia is using the opportunity to celebrate her Caribbean heritage, develop her voice and create opportunities that can benefit women and girls in the community.
Orinthia is currently raising £600 to support her journey to the Miss Caribbean UK stage. Any additional funds will support her planned community fashion show and natural hair empowerment masterclasses, a community project aimed at inspiring women and girls to build confidence, celebrate diversity and reach their potential.
Stephen Stanley, director of Enfield Black Heritage Hub, said: “It was a pleasure meeting Orinthia for the first time this summer at our tree planting legacy event at Pymmes Park, hosted by Cllr Greer, former mayor of Enfield. We wish Orinthia every success in the competition and look forward to continuing to support her work in the community.”
Orinthia says the competition represents a chance for her to use her voice, celebrate her heritage and “create positive opportunities for others” in her community.
People can support Orinthia by donating to her appeal fund, following her on Instagram and TikTok at @Orinthiazl, or by liking her pinned Instagram reel to vote.
