The fire took hold at St John the Evangelist in Bourne Hill
Firefighters have successfully tackled a fire at a Palmers Green church on New Year’s Day.
Shortly before 2pm on Monday (1st) London Fire Brigade was called to reports of a blaze at St John the Evangelist, the prominent church at the corner of Bourne Hill and Green Lanes.
Six fire engines and around 40 firefighters from Edmonton, Hornsey and Enfield fire stations attended the scene. They successfully tackled the fire and had it under control by 3.02pm.
Only a small part of the church had been alight and there were no reports of any injuries.
The cause of the fire is under investigation. The extent of the damage is also not yet known.
