A by-election will be held next month to elect a new councillor for an Enfield Council ward in Edmonton.

The upcoming poll in Jubilee ward has been confirmed today (Tuesday 22nd) after former leader Nesil Caliskan resigned as a councillor last week to focus on her new role as the MP for Barking in East London, where she won election to the House of Commons in July.

Caliskan stood down from her role as council leader in August.

Eligible voters living in Jubilee ward will be able to vote for their preferred candidate when the polls open on Thursday, 28th November.

The council is encouraging residents to check they are registered to vote before the deadline to ensure they can have their say on who represents them on local issues.

The deadline to apply to be registered ahead of the poll is midnight on Tuesday, 12th November. The deadline to apply for a postal vote is 5pm on Wednesday 13th and, for a proxy vote, the deadline is 5pm on Wednesday 20th.

Residents who wish to stand as a candidate have until 4pm on Friday, 1st November to nominate themselves.

The full list of by-election candidates is expected to be published shortly after the close of nominations at the beginning of November.

Photo ID will be required at polling stations on election day. For more information:
